COURSE OVERVIEW
This course provides information about the safe use of portable and fixed ladders. The intent of the course is to provide the learner with information about the hazards involved with the use of ladders and control methods that will greatly reduce these hazards. The content in this course is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements at both a provincial and federal level.
COURSE TOPICS
Learner objectives are to:
Understand provincial and federal regulations
Understand best practices regulating overhead work
Understand hazards associated with Working at Heights, and how to control the hazards (including fall protection systems when outside the ladder profile)
Describe the types of ladders and their use, capacities, and safety considerations
Understand strand hazards and appropriate control measures
Understand pole and strand structural evaluation and testing
Specify proper guidelines for ladder care and maintenance
